Latest ICC men's Test team rankings: India, Pakistan both gain after annual update

India and Pakistan both gained after the annual update to the ICC's men's Test team rankings on Friday (May 1).

India, Pakistan move up after annual ICC rankings update The annual update takes place around May 1 each year; this year, teams' results achieved prior to April 30, 2023, have been removed from consideration for the ratings. As a result, teams can change positions even without playing any matches. India and Pakistan have both moved up a spot as a result of this change, from fourth to third and seventh to sixth, respectively. India have overtaken England, while Pakistan have gone past Sri Lanka. Pakistan benefitted from that 3-0 loss going out of consideration, as well as 0-0 and 1-1 draws against New Zealand and Sri Lanka, respectively.
