Series Overview
The 2021 Pakistan Super League was split across two phases: the first held in Pakistan before being suspended due to a COVID-19 outbreak in March 2021, then resumed and concluded in the UAE in June 2021. All knockout matches including the final were played at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Multan Sultans, who had reached the PSL final for the first time in their history, produced a dominant performance throughout the tournament. In the final against Peshawar Zalmi, Multan posted a formidable 206/4 — batting with authority and power throughout their innings. Peshawar's chase was hampered by disciplined bowling, with the Sultans taking wickets regularly to restrict them to 159/9, winning by 47 runs. Sohaib Maqsood was the standout performer of the entire tournament — his middle-order batting was destructive and match-defining across multiple innings, earning him both the Man of the Match in the final and the Player of the Tournament award. Young pace bowler Shahnawaz Dahani, making a significant impact in his breakout PSL season, took 20 wickets to win the Best Emerging Player award and finish as the tournament's leading wicket-taker. Multan's maiden title was a popular victory in Pakistani cricket.
