How the WTC Works

1

Two-Year League Phase

All 9 Test nations play 6 series each (3 home, 3 away) over two years. Each series is worth 12 points per match win, 4 per draw, 6 per tie.

2

Points Percentage (PCT%)

Because teams don't all play the same number of matches, standings are ranked by PCT% — points earned divided by maximum points available. This creates a fair comparison.

3

WTC Final

The top two teams by PCT% at the end of the cycle meet in the WTC Final — a single Test match, typically at Lord's Cricket Ground in June.

4

No Deductions Rule

Unlike the first cycle (2019–21), there are no points deductions for slow over-rates. Teams retain all points regardless of over rate.

WTC FAQs

What is the World Test Championship (WTC)?

How are WTC points calculated?
