Series Overview

The ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 was hosted by India across nine cities from September 30 to November 2, 2025. Ten teams competed in a round-robin group stage followed by Super 6 and knockout rounds. India entered as tournament favourites on home soil and delivered a dominant campaign, with Smriti Mandhana in breathtaking form at the top of the order. Her 434 tournament runs broke Mithali Raj's long-standing Women's CWC record of 409. The real star, however, was Deepti Sharma — an all-round performance that had never been seen before at a Women's Cricket World Cup. Deepti's 215 runs combined with 22 wickets made her the first player in Women's CWC history to achieve the 200-run/20-wicket double in a single tournament. In the final at DY Patil Stadium, India posted a formidable 298 and then systematically dismantled South Africa's chase to win by 52 runs. South Africa, who had also performed strongly throughout the tournament, were bowled out for 246. The victory ended India's 28-year wait for the Women's ODI World Cup title — their first since 1997 — and sparked massive celebrations across the country. Deepti Sharma was named Player of the Tournament.
