IPL 2026 — Rohit Sharma Hits 500-Run Mark as Mumbai Indians Go Top
A masterclass from the captain. Rohit Sharma became the first batter to reach 500 IPL runs this season in a stunning chase at Wankhede.
Rohit Sharma etched his name into the IPL record books once again on Thursday evening, becoming the first batter of the 2026 season to reach the 500-run milestone as Mumbai Indians chased down a stiff 192 at Wankhede Stadium.
Sharma's 83 off 48 deliveries — laced with six fours and four towering sixes — set the tone from ball one, guiding Mumbai to victory with two overs to spare against a toothless Sunrisers Hyderabad attack.
"I just backed myself to play my natural game," Sharma said at the post-match presentation. "The wicket was good, Wankhede always brings the best out of me."
The milestone arrived with a trademark pull shot over midwicket off Jaydev Unadkat — his 12th IPL six in the current campaign. At a strike rate of 173, Sharma sits comfortably atop the tournament's run-scoring charts.
Mumbai's win lifts them to the top of the IPL 2026 table, level on points with Chennai Super Kings but ahead on Net Run Rate. Six matches remain in the group stage.
