PSL 2026 — Multan Sultans Edge Lahore in a Classic Final

A two-wicket win with one ball remaining. Multan's Mohammad Rizwan hits the winning boundary off the last legitimate delivery.

Mohammad Rizwan settled the debate with a clip off his pads to fine-leg — one ball remaining, two wickets in hand, and Multan Sultans are PSL 2026 champions.

It was everything a PSL final should be. Lahore Qalandars, the defending champions, had posted 178/6 after being put in at Gaddafi Stadium. Fakhar Zaman's 68 and Shaheen Afridi's crucial late cameo suggested it might be enough. For 17.5 overs, it looked like it would be.

Multan needed 22 off 12 with four wickets standing. Shaheen, operating at genuine pace and full length, dismissed both set batters in successive deliveries. Suddenly it was 18 off 8, two wickets left, and the stadium was at fever pitch.

Rizwan took charge. A six over midwicket off the penultimate delivery of the 19th brought it to 7 off 6. A no-ball wide turned it to 5 off 6, then three singles put 2 off 2, one wicket left. Rizwan met Shaheen's last delivery with the full face of the bat and the ball raced to the boundary.

"I don't have words," Rizwan said, helmet off, tears streaming. "This one is for every cricketer who was told they weren't good enough."
