Smriti Mandhana Leads India to Dominant Series Win Over Australia
A series sweep capped by Mandhana's second consecutive century in Brisbane as India sealed their best-ever result on Australian soil.
Smriti Mandhana's 119 off 127 deliveries in Brisbane completed one of the finest individual series performances in women's cricket history as India sealed a 3-0 whitewash over Australia — their first series victory on Australian soil.
The left-hander scored 374 runs across the three ODIs at an average of 124.6, her strokeplay as dominant in the humidity of Gabba as it had been in the crispness of Perth a week earlier.
"She's been exceptional," said India captain Harmanpreet Kaur. "But this was a complete team effort. Our bowling, our fielding — everything clicked."
India's victory, built on a miserly bowling attack led by Deepti Sharma (7 wickets) and Pooja Vastrakar (8 wickets), signals a significant shift in the balance of power in the women's game. Australia had won 12 of the previous 13 bilateral series between the two nations.
The series win pushes India to the top of the ICC Women's ODI Championship table with 24 points from 18 games, ahead of Australia on Net Run Rate.
